KI offers complete structural health monitoring solutions, with system design, hardware procurement, installation, data analytics, and recommendations based on results.
KI utilizes some of the leading hardware manufacturers in the world alongside our own sensors and dataloggers to provide the best solution for any need.
KI’s cloud-platform Senmos makes your data, alarms, and data analysis available from your browser no matter where you are in the world.
KI helps identifying the areas with the greatest impact from structural health monitoring. Using expertise in structural design, sensors, and data analytics KI assists in the design of complete structural health monitoring systems.
Why use structural health monitoring?
With the use of structural health monitoring, it is possible to gain insight in the physical state and behavior of your structural assets. Through data collection and data analysis, our platform can visualize and create a complete overview of your constructions and their current and historical condition. Having a digital representation of the structural behavior can be used as assistance in making the right decisions at the right time, to ensure a healthy structure now and in the future.
In short, structural health monitoring can be used to assess the current structural health, remaining lifetime estimations, plan maintenance, and to prevent catastrophic collapse.

What is the cost of not using SHM?
Great Belt bridge
Storstrøm bridge
Collapse in Genoa
Great maintenance costs
Extended downtime
Accidents and deaths
The Great Belt Fixed Link has already spent tens of millions of Euros on maintenance with an assumption that the maintenance cost is rising. The possibility of using structural health monitoring to gain insight into the bridges conditions has the potential for saving millions of Euros.
Traditionally all maintenance work has been planned based on design life, but structural health monitoring provides the possibility to maintain based on condition instead of a concrete time schedule. If the change of bridge bearings can be pushed just a few years, it can save millions over a larger timespan.
In 2011 11 cracks were found in the Storstrøm bridge, which resulted in a total stop in train traffic on the bridge for weeks and stopped freight trains permanently from using the bridge. Once damage has occurred or has grown too much, closures can become a necessary consequence to ensure safety.
Structural health monitoring can help locate the damaged and weak areas before they become to severe to require closures. The Storestrøm bridge did not have structural health monitoring before the damage occurred, but it helped monitor the conditions when the damage was located to ensure safety while the structure was repaired and operational to ensure the safety of passengers.

The worst-case scenario for structures will always be total collapse. In 2018 a freeway bridge in Genoa Italy collapsed killing 43 people.
Structural health monitoring provides improved safety in constructions by giving insights into the structures condition. Knowledge about the structures condition can mean the difference timely action and catastrophic consequences.

KI monitoring offers
Consulting
KI Monitoring is part of KI Consulting Engineers, which consists of both construction engineers, software developers and designers. Together we can help with everything from life-expectancy analyzes and experimental measurements to complete system design.
Hardware
KI offers sensors and data loggers of the highest quality for any task . We can help with choosing the right types and locations as well as install them on the structures.
Senmos - Cloud platform
KI's own SHM platform Senmos makes it easy to see exactly the data you need most. We help with setup, and tailor the software to the individual customer. Senmos can be accessed directly from your browser.
